Here’s How to Hygge Your Vehicle and Commute
1. Cozy Steering Wheel Cover
Many of the cozy members mentioned getting a new steering wheel.
Having the right steering wheel cover will help provide the cushion you want. Make sure you buy one that’s resistant to high temperatures and durable. You can find a Cozy Steering Wheel Cover on Amazon here.
2. Car Essential Oil Diffuser
Did you know they make essential oil diffusers for the car? It just plugs into your cigarette lighter. You can find one here on Amazon.
You can set the diffuser on continuous or interval settings if the scent of essential oils is too much. There’s a diffuser oil on Amazon that is called clean & fresh that will have your car smelling amazing.
You can also do calming essential oils like lavender.
One buyer stressed not to leave the diffuser in the car during freezing temperatures.
3. Listen to Podcasts
The Cozy Living Group definitely had their favorite podcasts to listen to on their drive.
Here’s the list of the podcasts they picked:

4. Hygge Seat Warmer
If you live in a cold area, an excellent seat warmer will make the drive a lot cozier.
This seat warmer from Amazon has three different seatings. Even Goldilocks would be happy! Most customers complain about the other ones is that it’s either too hot or too cold. The third setting makes it “just right.”
5. Vehicle Vase
Are you looking for a little pop of sunshine when you open your car door?
Adding a little vase and flower to your dash will help start your drive off on the right foot. You can pick your favorite flower to add to the vessel. Here’s a sweet vehicle vase you can find here on Amazon.
Switching out a faux flower with a real flower would make a nice switch when the weather permits.
6. Keep your car orderly.
Several of the people in the cozy living group talked about how a clean and organized car made them feel better about taking on the day.
Cleaning the windshield regularly was a big part of keeping the car feeling like it was in good condition. Others also mentioned keeping trash bags in the car, so they could keep things picked up.
7. Favorite drinks and cute travel mugs
Making your favorite warm drink for winter and cold drink for summer to have in the car is the perfect way to sip your way into bliss.
Members also mentioned always having bottled water and other favorite drinks in a small cooler in case they are needed.
Having a happy travel mug will also make your commute go by a bit easier. This Vera Bradley mug is gorgeous.
8. Your favorite snacks handy
Keep the snacks that make you happy handy in case the munchies start while in the middle of commuting.
As one cozy living member pointed out that there’s nothing worse than being stuck in traffic and being “hangry.” (That’s a word combo of being hungry and angry.)
Have you ever tried this chocolate cherry bar from Australia? It’s so darn good!
9) Audiobooks
One of my good friends has a 45-minute commute each way to her work. She started listening to audiobooks to make the commute less hectic.
She loves that she “reads” more books in a year than she ever did before. Light reads and cozy mysteries would be the perfect books to listen to keep your commute relaxing.
How about listening to poems on your way to work? One cozy member swears by it.
10) Comfy clothes
If you have a long commute, you might want to consider wearing comfy clothes for the commute and then changing them once you get to work.
After work is over, you change back into your comfy clothes for the journey home.
11) Hygge your vehicle with a cozy lap blanket
If you don’t want to use a seat warmer, you could always have a lap blanket handy to keep your lap warm.
12) Bring along a friend
One of the suggestions that got the most likes was a cozy living member always strapped her teddy bear in the passenger seat.
It made her feel like she had a friend along for the journey.
Another member placed a Swedish gnome on her dash and attached it with this tape so it wouldn’t fall off.
13) Listen to soothing music
Find beautiful music that will transport your soul to a beautiful place.
Isn’t funny how by listening to inspiring music, it has the power to shift our perspective of the world completely? I have my go-to playlist, depending on what I want to accomplish while I’m listening to it.
14) A small picture of a loved one
How about attaching a little picture frame on your dash with a photo of a special loved one tucked inside?
You could even put a picture of your dog or cat if seeing his or her picture soothes your soul.
15) Scarf, hat, and gloves
Keeping a hat, scarf, and gloves in the car at all times will keep your mind at ease in case the weather turns frosty.
16) Lip balm
As simple as this idea sounds, most members agreed that having lip balm at their fingertips was something that every car owner should have.
If variety is the spice of life for you, check out this pack with strawberry, coconut, pear, and vanilla bean flavors you can find on Amazon.
17) Sherpa seat cover
For ultimate comfort, how about a Sherpa seat cover? This example comes in gray and is so luxurious.
18) Hygge your vehicle with a cute bumper sticker
Adding the right bumper sticker can give your vehicle a personality. Here’s one that says, “I hope something good happens to you today.” Isn’t that sweet?
