“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.”
Marcus Aurelius
Mornings can be crazy, but they don’t have to be with these simple ideas.
Do you remember summers when you were a child and you couldn’t wait to get up in the morning to start your day full of adventure?
There were trees to be climbed, bikes to be ridden and forts to build. Now getting up with that pep in your step can be a bit more difficult.
You know how one bad thing happens, and it becomes that proverbial thread that unravels the entire day?
Get a jump on the day by incorporating hygge ideas and start setting a positive tone for the rest of the day by becoming more optimistic, grateful and positive.

Creating a Cozy Life Group

It’s a group where we share recipes, pictures of things that leave you in awe, and ideas on how to make your life just a little bit more snug. Join here to be part of the virtual cozy cabin.
“Every morning you rise, I want you to remember this: there are amazing things to be part of, and fight for, and feel, because the world will unlock hundreds of doors when you give this day all the courage, love, and intensity you can.”
Victoria Erickson – author, Edge of Wonder
Here are The BEST Cozy Hygge Morning Rituals
1. Stretch

While you’re still lying in bed, stretch every part of your body. Stretching has a calming effect on the body and your mind, and an extra bonus it increases blood flow.
Stretching also helps your muscles perform better throughout the day and nutrients have easier access to nourish them. Your energy levels will improve with daily stretching also.
To really improve your day, set your phone to remind you to stretch throughout the day.
2. Pray

Mornings can be hectic and our minds overwhelmed with the amount of things we need to accomplish throughout the day.
Starting each day with a morning prayer will so intention for our day to go forward God-centered, versus reacting to what each 24-hours brings.
“Do not have your concert first and tune your instruments afterward. Begin the day with God.”
Hudson Taylor
Ask God to guide you on your day’s path to make the right decisions for both business and personal. Pray for the safety of your loved ones and yourself.
You can also give thanks for all the blessings in your life. Naming some of the things you are grateful for is one of the most important things you can do for a positive outlook on the world.
“Every day I feel is a blessing from God. And I consider it a new beginning. Yeah, everything is beautiful.”
Prince
3. Mindful Shower

While you’re showering, listen to beautiful music and use body soaps naturally scented with essential oils. To change things up, have body wash fragrance to compliment the season you’re in.
For spring, wash up with lavender, rose or jasmine. Summer try basil, citrus or lemongrass. Fall fragrances are pumpkin, cinnamon, and apple. For winter try peppermint, chocolate or grapefruit.
4. Sip Tea

Make yourself a cup of hot tea or water with lemon and drink it slowly. Your body has gone 8 hours every night without any fluids, so it’s important to hydrate again right away.
With each sip, give thanks to one thing in your life you’re grateful for and keep the image of it in your mind for a minute.
5. Creativity

Awaken your creative powers first thing in the morning and spend just a few minutes working on a creative project.
It can be as simple as a writing a paragraph on a story you’ve been working on or finishing a small section of a painting.

When you start your day tapping into creative flow first thing in the morning, you energize the rest of your awake hours.
6. Light a Flame

Light a candle and bless one person in your life every day. Think about how this person has impacted your life in a positive light, and the lessons you’ve learned from him or her.
Sending good thoughts out into the world is always a hygge thing to do.
7. Walking

Set your alarm a little bit earlier so you can take a walk out into nature.
Sometimes the entire day goes by without connecting with Mother Earth, so its time to pencil her in.
One of the benefits of walking each morning is that no matter how busy each day gets, you know you’ve already gave your body a workout.
Walking every morning will also help you get a more restful sleep, so you awake refreshed and have enough energy to get you through the day.
A minimum of 30 minutes a day will help keep your heart healthy by lowering blood pressure and improving blood circulation.
8. Nourish

Make sure you feed your body the finest ingredients you can afford. There’s a world of difference between opening a packaged breakfast item versus making your own meal from scratch.
If you’re making eggs, try and get local organic eggs straight from the farm. Shave off some aged parmesan cheese and add freshly cut chives for scrambled eggs that are heavenly.
You can make your own homemade yogurt and pick berries from your garden. Drizzle it with honey, and you made a masterpiece.
Steel cut oats, topped with almond milk, walnuts, and brown sugar will make your belly happy.
9. Listen

On your way into work or running errands, listen to inspiring teachers that will help you be centered and happy as soon as you arrive at your destination.
Thought leaders like Wayne Dyer, Maya Angelou, and Jack Canfield are just some ideas on inspirational speakers.

10. Look at Your Vision Board

Hopefully you’ve created a vision board of what you want to see enter your life.
I think a vision board is one of the most powerful things you can do to keep your goals a priority. You can create a poster and cut out pictures of the life that awaits you.
I created a private Pinterest board and it’s what I look at to get centered on my goals.
Spend a little bit of time every morning to review your vision board and hold those goals with you during your busy schedule.
11. Surprise your Loved Ones with a Treat

Everyone loves a meaningful small gift. You can put a card on your husband’s visor or sneak a treat in your child’s coat pocket to find later.
The anticipation of your loved one finding his or her surprise will brighten your day.
12. Evoke all Your Senses

Make sure you use all five of your senses before driving off to work or doing errands in your car.
Touch something soft and luxurious or pet your cat goodbye.
Listen to beautiful music or the birds as you’re getting ready.
Look for gorgeous blooms in your garden or pick up a piece of fruit and absorb every detail.
Taste something decadent like gourmet tea or a single strawberry with homemade whipped cream.
Smell your freshly brewed coffee or add a few drops of essential oil to water in a spray bottle and mist your car before taking off on your journey.
13. Awaken a Happy Memory

Before starting your car each morning, think about a moment in life that made you smile.
It could a special moment with one of your children or a compliment recently paid to you.
Really visualize your happy memory and then keep that warm thought throughout the day.
14. Imagine Your Day

Give yourself an extra five minutes in bed and really imagine how you would like your day to go.
View the day from your higher self and picture yourself really getting the most out of every hour. Day after day after doing this, your days will start lining up with your vision.
15. Quote of the Day

Pick an inspirational quote to be your mantra for the day and think about how you can use the wisdom to enhance your life.
16. One Question

In 2005, Steve Jobs gave a commencement address at Stanford. He said one of the keys to his success was for 33 years the question he asked himself in the mirror every day. The question was:
“If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?”
What if we each took 5 minutes out of our morning and asked that question of ourselves. How would our lives change? It’s something to think about.
17. Natural environment

Someone I know has a house full of plants. Every morning, she takes the time to water some of them and trim off dead leaves.
She feels that taking quiet time to taking care of the plants centers her heart and calms her mind.
Magical days are attainable once again with just a few changes to your morning rituals.
18. Start with Poetry

Imagine how different the world would be if everyone started his or her day with a page of beautiful poetry.
Just like cream stirred into your morning coffee makes everything better, a few paragraphs of poetry adds a richness to your day.
One of my favorite books on poetry can be found here on Amazon. It has 200 poems that will have you looking at the world in a little brighter way.

Great article, I started my day out in the Word of God. Reading Proverbs today. Expository Parenting was my sideline book. Now going to add soft, beautiful music and poetry to my morning routine. Great suggestion!
