1. Wooden Garden Shutters

Rustic wooden shutters with charming heart cutouts add a whimsical, old-world touch to any garden space. Whether flanking a shed window or standing alone as garden decor, these weathered shutters bring cozy cottage vibes and vintage character to your outdoor retreat.
The shutter’s timeworn wood and heart details create a romantic focal point that complements a summer garden filled with blooms and greenery.
2. Rustic Vertical Wall Planter

A rustic vertical wall planter with neatly lined-up pots brings charm and functionality to any garden or patio wall. With its weather wood frame and rows of pots, it adds cozy farmhouse style while making the most of small garden spaces.
Perfect for herbs, trailing vines, or colorful blooms, this vertical planter turns any blank wall into a thriving, eye-catching summer garden display.

Using pallet wood to build a wall of planter boxes adds a rustic charm and vertical interest to any garden or patio. This budget-friendly DIY project is perfect for showcasing herbs, succulents, or colorful annuals while reusing weathered wood for a cozy, reclaimed look.
3. Rustic Wooden Shelves

Rustic wooden shelves add charm and function to any covered garden space, offering the perfect spot to display potted herbs, weathered garden tools, and vintage treasures.

Tucked beneath a porch roof or inside a potting shed, these shelves bring warmth and personality while protecting your garden essentials from the elements. When styled with clay pots, they blend beautifully into a cozy, lived-in garden aesthetic.
4. Rustic Chicken Coop

At a garden art outdoor fair, I stumbled upon the most charming rustic chicken coop made from an old Coca-Cola metal cooler and galvanized panels – it stopped me in my tracks. The artist had cleverly transformed the faded red cooler into a nesting box, its vintage logo still peeking through years of patina.
Paired with the silvery galvanized siding and reclaimed wood frame, the chicken coop had just the right mix of whimsy and farmhouse grit.
5. Shopping Cart Planter

A vintage metal shopping cart makes a delightfully unexpected planter, bringing a playful rustic touch to the garden. Its open frame allows for easy drainage, while the wire basket is perfect for spilling blooms, cascading vines, or even a mix of herbs.
Tucked along a garden path, it turns a once-forgotten relic into a charming conversation piece full of cottage-style personality.
6. Rustic Metal Yard Art

Rustic garden art brings whimsy and charm to your outdoor space, especially when old metal tools and equipment are transformed into imaginative creatures.
This quirky frog is made from a worn-out shovel for a face and a weathered propane tank for a body – full of character.

These repurposed garden animals celebrate creativity and sustainability and add a playful, handmade feel that makes your garden feel alive with personality.

8. Rustic Metal Birdbath

A rustic metal birdbath nestled in wildflowers and weathered wood brings your outdoor space a timeless, old-world charm. With its aged patina and simple design, it blends effortlessly into natural surroundings.
It’s a peaceful focal point that feels both functional and nostalgic.
9. Rustic Lighting

Rustic lighting, such as old lanterns, vintage sconces, or bare-bulb fixtures brings a warm, welcoming glow to garden sheds and covered porches. These aged lights add charm and character, casting soft pools of light that make everything feel cozy and timeless.
Whether hung from wooden beams or mounted beside a door, rustic lighting creates the perfect ambiance for relaxing, potting plants, or enjoying a quiet moment outdoors.

A glass and metal vintage hanging lamp adds timeless charm to the garden. Its aged patina and delicate curves evoke a sense of old-world romance. Nestled beneath tree branches or hanging from a rustic pergola, the lamp glows softly at dusk thanks to a discreet solar light tucked inside.
10. Rustic Cast Iron Garden Arch

A rustic cast iron arch adds a timeless charm to the entrance of a rustic garden, creating a sense of quiet wonder before you even step inside. The arch frames the view like an old photograph, inviting guests to wander through with a sense of nostalgia.
Whether wrapped in climbing vines or standing proudly bare, it sets the tone for the garden beyond – Wild, peaceful, and beautifully imperfect.
11. Cut Tree Stumps

Cut tree stumps in varying heights can add instant rustic appeal to your garden, and they can be found for free! In this photo, the stumps act as natural pedestals, each one topped with solar candles or a pot brimming with blooms.
Grouped together, the tree stumps create an eye-catching display that brings both height and texture to the garden, while repurposing something simple and organic.
12. Wooden Pergola

A wooden pergola with its weathered beams and simple craftsmanship, creates a cozy, shaded retreat for trailing vines, hanging lanterns, or a bistro set beneath. Whether used as an entryway or a quiet corner for morning coffee, the natural texture and warmth of the wood blend beautifully with garden greenery.
13. Carved Wood Stump Art

One of my favorite pieces in my rustic garden is a carved wooden bear made from an old tree stump. He’s been with me for many years, faithfully moving from home to home like a quiet little guardian.
Every garden needs a character – and this bear is mine.

Hi Kelly
I love finding items you dont see everywhere! Where was this garden show you mentioned? I wirk for an irchid grower and I am the buyer and always on the hunt for great pots but I have not been able ti find garden trade shows do you know of any? Thanks for sharing !
Cindie
Hi Cindie! The garden show is called Sorticulture and it’s an annual show in Everett, Washington. All the booths at the show have to have handmade items. The last few items I listed were at the Edmonds Art Show. Both websites should have a list of vendors. Make sure you subscribe – wait until you see an upcoming post on a chain-saw artist. – Kelly
Thank you for sharing our photos of the Bob Bowling Rustics both at Sorticulture. We would love it if you could link then to our website please.
