The Best Hygge Movies You’ll Love – Backyard Movie

One of the frequent questions in the cozy living group is, “What are your favorite hygge movies?”  Everyone has an opinion on the matter. The list was long.

I decided to put that list together so everyone can learn what the best hygge movies were, even if they aren’t in the cozy living group.

Finding the right movie can be overwhelming because there are so many different choices. When you find a movie you love, it touches your soul. And that’s what we’re after: more soul-touching moments.

I created a pin for your Pinterest board. Make sure you add the hygge movies pin so that you can refer back to it again at the end of the article.

“We love films because they make us feel something. They speak to our desires, which are never small. They allow us to escape and to dream and to gaze into the eyes that are impossibly beautiful and huge. They fill us with longing. But also. They tell us to remember; they remind us of life. Remember, they say, how much it hurts to have your heart broken.”

While You Were Sleeping

A transit worker saves a man from certain death when she pulls him from the path of an oncoming train.  She visits him in the hospital, where he lies unconscious.

The staff assumes she’s his fiancé, and in turn, so does his family, who welcomes her into their lives.

You’ve Got Mail

This is one of my all-time favorite hygge movies. Meg Ryan owns a quaint bookstore that is threatened to be put out of business by a book superstore being built near her. She starts an online friendship with an anonymous person online, not knowing he is one of the owners of the superstore.

This is a great list! I have saved this post to may "Hygge" Pinterest board so I can refer to it when I need a good movie! I would add "Loving Leah" to that list; I probably watch it a couple times a year. I finally bought the DVD when I realized I watched it EVERY time it re-broadcast on The Hallmark Channel!

I would definitely add “Autumn in New York” starring Richard Gere to this list. Also, “Pretty Woman”.

This is a great list!! Thank you so much for putting this together. My favorite movie, “While You Were Sleeping” is on the list. I love that movie and watch it quite often. I will be exploring some others listed too. And no movie is complete without some yummy hot buttered popcorn 😊 Thank you again!

This is a fantastic list of Hygge Movies and even more great suggestions in the comments section. Lots of these I have seen and love. Lots I cannot wait to check out. One movie that I always feel Hygge watching is Ghost Town with Ricky Gervais and Tea Leoni. Very heartwarming movie for me.
