DIY Coffee Lover’s Sugar Scrub is a super simple recipe to make for yourself or for gifts for all your coffee-loving friends.

“Smell the roses. Smell the coffee. Whatever it is that makes you happy.” – Rita Moreno

I have always loved the smell of fresh brewed coffee.  It’s one of my favorite scents in the world.

Not only does coffee smell great, but the grounds are loaded with antioxidants, helps protect against the sun’s rays and enhances circulation.

You can find out more about the benefits of coffee grounds externally from this article on Amazing Beauty Benefits of Coffee for the Skin

I found this amazing recipe in a book called Gifts in Jars by Natalie Wise.  If you have seen the book, I highly suggest you check it out.

Since you like to pamper yourself, I’m guessing you like all things cozy.  I have a Facebook group called Creating a Cozy Life with over 3,000 like-minded souls.  It’s a group where we share recipes, pictures of things that leave you in awe, and ideas on how to make your life just a little bit more snug.  Join here to be part of the virtual cozy cabin.

I’ve been making the commitment to learning how to make my own beauty products because it costs way less money and I know what’s going into the DIY products I make.

Why not put aside a few minutes each week and make your own beauty and cleaning products?  The added bonus is it’s fun to do!

Coffee Body Scrub

Here’s the DIY Coffee Lover’s Sugar Scrub recipe:

This recipe makes approximately two cups of sugar scrub.  Pick jars with lids that will fit two cups of scrub easily.

Make sure you don’t go overboard in the amount of coffee grounds you use.  (Other recipes use way more coffee grounds and larger amounts have a tendency to clog drains.  That defeats the purpose of saving money-making our own products, don’t you think?)

Ingredients you will need:

2 cups sugar

1 cup light oil, such as olive oil or coconut oil

3 tablespoons of finely ground coffee

Instructions:

Mix all ingredients together and place into jars.

To use:

While taking a shower, massage DIY Coffee Lover’s Sugar Scrub all over your body.  Let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing off.

Tip:

The best time to use this recipe is before going to bed, as it can leave an oil reside on your skin that will be absorbed into your body.  If you’re going to work or out, it might end up on your clothing before  being absorbed.

Yield: Approximately 2 cups
